Dr. McKay has over 12 years of experience teaching piano through his private studio, and currently teaches piano, music theory, music history, and research methods at SUNY New Paltz. He has given guest lectures, masterclasses, and workshops at institutions such as the Berklee College of Music, Denison University, the Queensland Conservatorium, and the Denver School of the Arts. Equally dedicated to studying the music of our time, he recently published his first book A Semiotic Approach to Open Notations: Ambiguity as Opportunity (Cambridge University Press).
